New Product Review- Print Wraps | Raleigh Family Photographer

I like to practice what I preach.  I believe that while digitals are great to have (especially in this day and age), I love to have prints that I can look at daily throughout my house and office.  Each picture hanging reminds me of that exact moment including feelings and events of the great memories.  I just love it!

I received notice from one of my printing labs the other day that they were doing a special on Print Wraps.  I was curious and had a couple shots of the kids that I wanted to print out so figured I would give it a try.  To be honest I wasn't 100% sure what to expect...they essentially are a canvas wrap but without the canvas, just the print.  I could picture it but couldn't.  I have to say I was so pleasantly surprised!  I ordered one with the picture wrapping around the edges and then one where I picked a color for the edges.  I just love them!  So much I am now trying to decide on two more to order so I can finish that part of the wall with a great design!

The print is laminated for protection and then wrapped around a wooden frame.  The print also comes with a wooden hanger.  You don't need to buy any frames for them and even better they are easy to clean by just wiping with a lightly damp cloth!

I took a couple quick pictures of the product so you can see for yourself in my own home.   If you have any questions or would like any more information on this product just let me know- would love to discuss or even show you in person!

You can see the wooden frame that the picture is wrapped around. Additionally, the wooden block that comes with the wrap is already installed where you just need a nail in the wall and you are set for hanging.

Spring- You Were Missed! | Raleigh Photographer

While I believe that this winter was more mild than last, it was still due time for Spring to make its appearance...and a welcomed one at that!  This weekend was truly gorgeous and I hope that everyone had a chance to go out and enjoy the beautiful weather.  This weekend we took the kids to a park to go and fly their new kites that they received from their aunt.  The wind was just about right and allowed for some good air time.  The kids just loved it; the ran all over the field!  We did have one kite that ended up with a casualty - so not too bad in the scheme of things :)  Then for Easter we went over to our friends house and did an Easter egg hunt with another family in the neighborhood and then had a BBQ with great company! It was just a beautiful weekend!  Here is to hoping that this is just the beginning of a perfect Spring!

Meet our new Rukus | Raleigh

I know I tend to show off my kids in the blog, but every now and then I like to throw in our pets- LOVE taking pictures of the animals too!  We recently just added this lovable guy into our family yesterday.  He is just at 1 year old, full of energy yet can also be full of lazy lap energy.  He has been adjusting well.  Our other dog and him seem to be doing ok together and the kids just love him!  They think it is too funny to play with him fetch and tugging with his toys.  Its been great!  We are so happy to have him here and thankful for the Carolina Boxer Rescue (yet again) for saving another animal.  So welcome Rukus to our family- it may have been only 24 hours so far but we love you like you have been with us for years and years!

Valentine's Cupcakes | Raleigh NC

Wanted to do a little something special with the kids prior to Valentines Day.  The kids love to cook- so I thought we would make some Red Velvet cupcakes for family and friends!  I mean, who can so no to cupcakes?  They both enjoyed taking turns mixing the bowl for the cupcakes- though neither were extremely large fans of testing out the batter!  They also enjoyed getting to make the frosting and watching it with the hand mixer!  We had such a great time and the cupcakes turned out so delicious!  Love getting to spend time with them like this- as they definitely grow way too fast!

Top Raleigh Kid Friendly Restaurants

Raleigh Area Kid Restaurants

We have two young kids who LOVE eating out at restaurants.  It's to the point where you would think that they have  special toddler column as food bloggers.  My daughter especially would eat out for every meal!  Living in Raleigh there are truly so many options for eating out- its one of the things that we love about living here...the options, variety, and lack of having to go to chain restaurants is huge!  This got me thinking about what our favorite restaurants are to take the kids and I wanted to share our top choices with you and the reasons why.

In no particular order:

1.) Cowfish (North Hills)- Cowfish has such a fun and inviting atmosphere.  It is really fun for all ages.  From the time you come into the door you can watch an interactive video of where you are in line, the menu items, and to the great big fish tank inside,  you really can't go wrong.  The menu items fit most kid appetites and are good portion sizes.  I would also say that 9 times out of 10, our waitstaff there will bring out the kids food first.  There isn't a parent out there who won't appreciate this as we know that the patience levels of kids (and in my case a 4 year old and 2 year old) is practically nonexistent.  If you do have to wait any, the fish tank usually helps bide time with the little ones.

2) Relish (Raleigh)- When the weather is nice, Relish is such a great option at anytime of the day for the kids.  They have really done a great job of trying to make any waiting easy on kids.  They usually have a set up outside with bubbles and sidewalk chalk  Our kids love it and it really helps occupy the time while our amazing food is being prepared.  And as with Cowfish, Relish has a great menu that appeals to both the kids and parents.

3) Mellow Mushroom (Raleigh, Wake Forest)- Now I am sort of breaking a rule of even putting a large chain restaurant on this list.  It truly is a partial toss up between Mellow Mushroom and Lynwood Grill for pizza.  The big winning factor is that Mellow Mushroom does a great job of getting the kids served quickly and first.

4) Goodberrys- Let's face it, ice cream, custard, milkshakes, can win the heart of most kids and adults alike.  You really can't go wrong and Goodberry's is just delicious.  Not too many choices to overwhelm, but always tasty.  A lot of people also don't know that they do offer kids cup sizes.  We have found that even splitting a kids size between the two is the perfect amount.  The staff is always generous enough to give us and extra cup and spoon so we can split it.  Goodberry's also has a fun and great environment outside- make sure you bring some extra loose change for the fountain!
