The first boxer I ever had was Baxter and he came with my husband when we first started dating (I came with a rat terrier mix- same difference :) ). Instantly I fell in love with that breed- they are so gentle, loving, big, and darn cute. When we lost Baxter to cancer (he was only 3 when he passed) there was a void. He was truly an awesome dog. We talked a lot about it over the years and once we were settled in after our move to Raleigh we decided it was time to finally get another boxer. We went through the Carolina Boxer Rescue and not only have we fallen in love with their rescues but the people that I have met and interacted with have been truly amazing. I knew that I wanted to try and get involved in whatever way I could to help them. When the opportunity approached to do a photo shoot for their fundraiser calendar in Raleigh, I knew I had to do it and couldn't wait.
I was so excited for this event and it was great news to hear that we sold out! The sessions allowed owners of any breed to come in and get a 20-30 minute photo shoot of their dog. They would then get digital files of their dogs and for all boxers one picture from the shoot will be submitted against the other area shoots for a chance to be in the 2016 Carolina Boxer Rescue calendar (great fundraiser for CBR)! In addition, if your dog isn't picked for a month spot you are still guaranteed a picture on a day in the calendar and that includes all other breeds.
I had such a wonderful time and had some great volunteer assistants with me. I loved each and every session! I want to continue to give back to this wonderful rescue group and hope they will invite me to do this event again next year. I just have to share some pictures from the sessions I did in Raleigh! I can't wait to see who will be in the calendar. Thank you to Raleigh Community Animal Hospital for lending out your facilities for the sessions! And of course, thank you to all the families that participated in this wonderful event- I loved meeting all of you and your fur children!
